Deploy a Vite or React app
Deploy a Vite app from GitHub and Vinssi serves the built site on port 3000. A React app that uses Vite follows this path. A React app that uses Next.js follows the Next.js path instead.
How Vinssi recognises a Vite app
On each deployment Vinssi reads the package.json in the app folder. It treats the project as Vite when vite is in dependencies or devDependencies and the repository includes vite.config.js, vite.config.ts, or vite.config.mjs. Include that config file so the app is recognised.
React is not its own check. If the React app uses Vite, this is the path. If it uses Next.js, Vinssi follows the Next.js path, because Next.js is checked first. The first match wins. The rules are in supported apps. The Next.js steps are in Next.js and Postgres.
Build and start
If package.json has a build script, Vinssi runs it with the package manager it detected. If there is no build script, it runs vite build. The built dist folder is then served as a single page app on port 3000.
The build and the running app use Node 22. Vinssi sets PORT to 3000 and sends traffic there. The app should listen on that port. A PORT value you set yourself does not replace the platform value.
Put the repository online
Follow the quickstart. Sign in at the dashboard. A workspace is created on first login. Choose Install GitHub App and grant it only the repositories you intend to use. Vinssi requests read access to repository contents and metadata. Choose New app, name it, and pick one repository. One repository connects to one app.
Open Settings, then Build. Leave the fields on Auto unless the app lives in a subfolder, such as a monorepo, or the app does not read PORT. Open Settings, then Variables if the build needs a key. Open Billing, choose a plan, and complete checkout. Press Deploy.
A first deployment typically takes two to five minutes. The quickstart says the whole first run usually takes about ten minutes, most of it waiting for the build. When the status is Live, open the platform address. It looks like https://<project-slug>-<4 random characters>.app.vinssi.ai. Prices are in What does hosting an app cost?
If the page is only HTML
A landing page that is one HTML file, with no Vite build, uses Vinssi Pages. That path does not need a plan. The landing page guide covers it. These steps come from the supported apps page and the quickstart. They were not run against a signed-in Vinssi account for this guide.
Common questions
- Can I deploy a React app?
- Yes. A React app that uses Vite follows this guide. A React app that uses Next.js follows the Next.js and Postgres guide.
- Which Node version does the app use?
- The build and the running app use Node 22. The command line tool, if you use it, needs Node 20 or newer.
- Does a Vite app need a plan?
- Yes. An app deployed from GitHub needs an active plan before you press Deploy.
- What is the live address?
- It looks like https://<project-slug>-<4 random characters>.app.vinssi.ai. A first deployment typically takes two to five minutes.
